There is NO such thing as a poet. There is only the poet, as in, the poet of this poem is [person]. I die a little bit every time I hear things like What do you do? -- I'm a poet or He had advice for the younger poets.

(A batch of poets? A hubbub of poets? A circle-wank of poets? I think I like a lime-pit of poets.)
